real craft: ames caribe series
exhibited at london craft week

From 3 to 7 May 2017, London-based interior design store Mint will be showing RealCraft, an exhibition featuring new handcrafted products made from natural materials: products made by Jordanian craftswomen in collaboration with Mint and Studio Gutedort, special wood products by Joel Parkes and the new CARIBE range by Ames, featuring furniture made from recycled synthetic string and powder-coated steel. Produced in a small manufactory located on Colombia’s Caribbean coast, the CARIBE products are made using traditional weaving techniques. With the aim to create sustainable jobs based on using traditional craft techniques and local resources, Mint has collaborated with Jennifer Hier and Eva Schlechte from Studio Gutedort. The project is dedicated to supporting women in generating their own income. The ames sala by sebastian herkner collection is based on the same approach: small, mostly family- or women-run businesses located in different regions of Colombia use traditional craft techniques to create the products for the ames sala collection.
